Frances Knight

Class of 2021 college graduate with extensive experience as a veterinarian assistant in small animal GP and ER settings, and current student in the Cornell University of College of Veterinary Medicine class of 2028. Seeking a position that is predominantly focused on surgery patients, and will provide the tools and skills necessary to succeed in 4th-year clinics and as a post-graduate clinician.

Research:

Undergraduate Researcher- Hilinski Lab (2018-2020)

• I studied the efficacy of different nitrene precursors on the C-H activation of organic substrates using an organocatalyst ("Hilinski catalyst") that was designed by the Hilinski Lab.

Research Specialist- Virginia Institute of Marine Science (Summer 2021-Spring 2022)

• I helped study the concentration of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in Chesapeake Bay waterways using a piece of technology designed for the lab called a Biosensor. I also started a separate project to design the synthesis of a derivative of a new class of concerning chemical substances known as polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in the hopes we could be one of the first to yield monoclonal antibodies against them.
