My parents raised my sisters and me to have strong work ethics at an early age. I often tell about my summers at the beach when I was 5 years old and had a job to sweep and mop an Arcade 3 times a day every day for the entire summer and was paid through Ice Cream and Arcade Tokens. When I got a little older (probably 7-12 years old)I bagged Ice and worked at a Putt-Putt Golf Course every summer in Myrtle Beach, SC. It sounds silly to put on a resume but I strongly feel that opportunities my parents taught me at such a young age, when I got old enough to have a real job, I learned at an early age that no matter the job, put 100% of effort into it and nothing is free and you have to earn what you want in life.
When I started college, I was going to school to be a school teacher but after the first semester, I realized I didnt want to spend the rest of my life in a school and while in college working at NASCAR Cafe in the summers, I knew I wanted to do something within restaurants and changed my major to Hotel & Restaurant Management.
I have always been a Self-driven leader who holds myself accountable for my own shortcomings. I am a quick thinker and quickly make decisions where I look out for not just myself but all parties involved to get the best resolution that will satisfy everyone (even if I get the short end of the stick). I self-evaluate nearly every decision I make and basically study the situations later on down the road whether I made the correct decision or not which helps me make better future decisions. I love to learn new things which helps me be more coachable on areas I may not be as strong at. When I was a GM at Freddy's, my main goal for my employees who were working their first job was to teach them that its ok to love your job and its ok to like your boss. I always tried to change the perception that people see on TV where people hate their jobs and bosses are jerks. One of my greatest compliments were from a parent of twin girls who started working for me at 16 years old and left when they graduated high school to go into the military. Their mother would come in every week after they left and I would always sit with her and she would tell me about her daughters accomplishments Post-Freddy's. She would tell me this from time to time and would always repeat it when she brought other guests with her that She "loved and hated that her daughters first job was working for me at Freddy's because we aligned with her and her husbands morals but she knew that her daughters would never have another company that cared for the employees well-being as much as we did but loved the fact that her daughters got to experience what a true Great Culture within a job.
I have either been the ROP/Lead Trainer/MUM/Upfit Leader on over 20 Freddy's which ranged from North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Texas and opened 2 stores in Illinois with Freddy's Corporate. As I started making my way up in the Freddy's world, I am proud as to see my employees are always requested to assist with Training at NRO's whether its within our own franchise but most recently with Freddy's Corporate openings.
