  • Have regular monthly safety / affirmative action meetings to provide training, knowledge to maintain OSHA recordable injuries to zero.
  • Create weekly schedules and ensure workers’ hours are accurate in Kronos / UKG.
  • Assist in some mechanical work, trouble shoot, interface with other departments, and resolve work problems to keep customer deadlines.
  • I work in all aspects of the production floor from DS (Department Specialist, then to the maintenance as a maintenance technician over the printing section and to Supervision). Track and analyze machinery to foresee problems to maximize the downtime with production needs and communicate with upper management for future PM on machinery.
  • Maintenance Technician – repair and rebuild if necessary, all equipment for the printers, make necessary repairs to printers to keep them running and trouble shoot when necessary. I also assist in the forming area of the production floor when needed.

Back End Relief

  • Duties and responsibilities of the Back End Relief are to assume the role and responsibilities of each position on the back end. The Back End relief encompassed of 4 sections being the Dry Mat Area, Coater Area, Granule Area and the Cooling Section Area.
  • Each section adheres to a certain procedure to ensure a good quality product is being made for the customer (shingles for homes).
  • Dry Mat Area is to have back to back fiber glass roll spliced together to have continuous flow of fiber glass sheet through the dry mat looper.
  • Coater operator maintain a constant flow of asphalt onto the fiber glass sheet and maintaining weights and filler (calcium chloride).
  • Communication with others in the back end section as well with the front end to discard any bad product until necessary adjustments are made to get back into company’s specs.
  • Granule section consist of the blending of different colors of granule and being applies to the fiber glass sheet with asphalt and also applying sand underneath to keep fiber glass sheet from sticking to the drum during operating procedures.
  • Cooling section consist of maintaining press, water and silicone and non-silicone tape to the shingle sheet and then hung through a FPL(finished product looper) to dry off extra access off water before making its way to the front end.
  • All 4 sections have to work and communicate together to maintain a quality shingle sheet before it makes it way to the front end section. The front end does all the cutting the sheet into single sheet of shingles, stacking and wrapping into a finished product.
