I am a certified Teacher of the Visually Impaired as well as early childhood endorsed teacher. I have worked with and taught children with various special needs since 2006, especially those with visual impairments. Am an engaging teacher skilled in meeting students at their zone of proximal development, developing effective lesson plans and assessing student progress. Am able to modify my approach based on each student's individual abilities and personality. Am able to adapt lessons so that all students are engaged while varying instruction to meet each student individually. Am also able to manage classroom assistants effectively if necessary. Am a very warm, highly creative and encouraging teacher that loves to work with children.
Worked in several recreation programs under umbrella of program called SHARP (Sports, Habilitation, Arts and Recreation Program) where we did different recreational activities with students between ages of 5 and 21. The main function of this program is to facilitate fun for students but it also entails maintaining their safety, helping them with social skills, and guiding them towards independence.
While at the Foundation for Blind Children, I was awarded the most engaging teacher for school year 2021-2022.
I was also awarded the teacher with most parent engagement in 2020-2021.
