Gabriel Palacios

Berrien Springs,MI

Summary

Gabriel Palacios is a versatile pianist with a passion for collaboration and musical exploration. His musical journey began at the Suzuki Institute of Dallas under the guidance of Phoebe Hemingway, where he started his piano studies at the age of five. Alongside piano, Gabriel also delved into cello under the tutelage of Donna Davis.

Upon relocating to Khon Kaen, Thailand, Gabriel continued his piano education with Dr. Eri Nakagawa at Mahidol University until he reconnected with the Suzuki Institute of Dallas and furthered his studies with Dr. Bret Serrin. During this time, Gabriel also began teaching beginner cello and ukulele at Peace Music Academy.

In 2016 Gabriel moved to Berrien Springs, MI, where he attended Andrews Academy and began his piano studies with Dr. Chi Yong Yun. At Andrews Academy, Gabriel showcased his talents as an accompanist for choirs such as the Silhouettes and the Chorale, as well as performing with the Andrews Academy Orchestra. Transitioning to Andrews University in 2018, Gabriel continued under the mentorship of Dr. Chi Yong Yun, majoring in piano performance and mathematics. He served as the primary collaborative pianist for University Singers and his peers, demonstrating his versatility and repute.

In 2023 Gabriel taught at Cornerstone Adventist Academy, preparing students (k-8) in a choir, a ukulele ensemble, and a chime group. This experience ignited a love for teaching that is slowly consuming Gabriel.

Outside of academia, Gabriel has been an active presence in the Michiana music scene, collaborating with various local ensembles such as the Southwestern Michigan College Choir, the Monday Music Club of Michigan, and the Southwest Michigan Symphony Chorus. Currently, Gabriel serves as the pianist/organist for Pathways Global Methodist Church in St. Joseph, MI.

With his versatile skills and genuine love for music, Gabriel Palacios hopes to positively impact the musical community.
