  • Operated a multi-line phone system with a group of eight colleagues in order to primarily manage patient concerns, schedule visits and procedures, record information to forward to the physicians, and communicate with other medical providers and insurance companies
  • Learned to quickly get necessary information from patients in a professional, cordial and necessary manner, wherein I became familiar with medical terminology to synthesize and relay the information most pertinent to their physicians
  • Called patients directly to follow up on referrals from other physicians to determine if the patients wanted to schedule an in-office consultation
  • Gained competency in numerous electronic platforms for patient care:
  • Collaborate MD Scheduling to schedule consultations, pre-operation visits, and post-operation follow-ups; PBO to compile patient medical record charts which consist of patient contact information, medical history, lab tests, imaging scans, and insurance information; Epic for surgery scheduling; ScanSnap to scan paper records into PBO before shredding;
  • HumbleFax to send requested patients’ information to their other medical providers and medical insurance companies
  • Became fluent with the medical privacy guidelines under the Health
  • Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) in order to protect the privacy rights of all patients
  • Called medical insurance companies to get prior authorizations to approve payment for patient visits and procedures
  • Worked with insurance companies to correct discrepancies in medical procedure codes and charges
  • Paid bills and negotiated payments with contracted companies for the business
  • Greeted patients in a friendly and welcoming manner into the waiting room when they came in for office visits, in which time I got the respective medical chart ready for the physician before accompanying them to their exam room and then letting the physician know the patient was ready to be seen
