Garrett Gribble

I have 2 years of Junior High football experience and 3 years at the high school level. I Have been involved with football since I was in 1st grade. I held the quarterback position for 9 years. I believe that I held this position for this long because of my natural leadership abilities that at the time I was unaware of but my coaches were aware of. I have held a 4.0 since JH. I was awarded the all around male student for 7th and 8th grade at Altus Junior High. I received the sportsmanship/leadership award in 7/8 grade for football, basketball and baseball. I have been a member of National Honor Society since 8th grade. I have been on the Superintendents Honor Roll my entire school career. I am a member of Link Crew which is a mentor program that Altus High School implements for upper classmen to mentor under classmen. I have read the book Can't Hurt Me written by David Goggins. This book helped me to dive into what leadership means to me and how I can become a better more effective leader. In Goggins book he says "The human body an withstand and accomplish a hell of a lot more than most of us think possible, and that it all begins and ends in the mind." This sums up much of what I believe and what I want to always incorporate in my life and that is having a growth mindset, which is belief that you can constantly learn, grow and improve.
