Summary
My experience as a fishmonger started at Pike Place Market.
A place that is world famous for it's showmanship and also for the wonderful assortment of fresh fish and shellfish both locally and nationwide,I was hired because of my management skills and quickly learned about seafood
itself from the owner who was a second generation lifelong Alaska fisherman.City Fish is where I learned the art of filleting fish of different varieties and also learned to do it quite quickly as well.
After city Fish I worked for a short time in seafood wholesale learning a different side of the business,that didn't last long as I missed the customer service aspect.
Metropolitan Market came next and this is where I learned most of my marketing,profit and loss,labor control and inventory management skills.The fifteen years at MM is where I grew to be the man I am today.Over the years I have had the opportunity to teach train and mold a number of individuals,many of those moved onto higher positions or other professions and became successful and remained friends.I love what I do and have a deep passion for it and what I enjoy the most,besides the customer service is the training,taking someone who is brand new and teaching them a skill that will last a lifetime.
