A sweet family of 7 children, whom I babysit for on occasion. Ages range from 14 to 2! I will watch their kids either for full days when available, or an evening. Usually a typical evening with them looks like making and eating dinner, a short amount of play time with stories, reading books, singing songs, and then putting the younger children to bed. Then the older kids and I have some fun together until Mom and Dad get home!
In this nanny position, I took care of a sweet 4 year old boy and 1 1/2 year old girl, who also happened to by my niece and nephew :)
My hours were usually in the middle of the day, so duties included feeding lunch to both of the kids (who could be picky eaters!), age appropriate play, going outside, and sometimes getting the younger girl down for her nap.
For the first month, these kids sometimes struggled with being away from their parents for more than a few hours. So, often the focus here was just to give them extra loving, do activities that were especially fun and distracting, and help them feel secure and happy despite missing Mom and Dad. The top rated activities were either hide-and-seek or going outside :)
In this position as a Chiropractor's Assistant, my main job was to take real-time notes on the doctor's adjustments to the patient, greet the patients upon arrival, and check in with them about how they are doing and what their main points of concern are for the doctor that day. Other duties around the office included: filing, answering phones and scheduling appointments, assisting the patients during their hot and cold therapy, and relaying any concerns from the patient to the doctor.
I assisted the teacher of a Pre-school/Kindergarten class from September-December, then taught a Kindergarten music class from January-May!
Assisting the teacher in her duties included: guiding children through the building to recess/other classrooms, leading the children in group games and songs, helping children who needed assistance during class, gently keeping order if disruption occurs, and any extra tasks the teacher needed.
Music teacher duties included: creating and teaching the curriculum, gently keeping order between students, and providing simple yet fun musical activities for the children that would also teach them the joy of music!
I worked as a 'Mother's Helper' for this family of 4 children, ages 12-3! The mom of this family homeschooled, so we often tag-teamed, where I would take the younger children outside or in the basement to play while she did school with the older children, or play with all of them once school was done while Mom did shopping or cooking! This family especially enjoyed going for walks to a nearby park, coming up with silly or school-related skits, doing dress-up, or playing Legos! We had so many fun inside jokes from the silly skits we came up with!
