  • Acted as a discussion leader by asking questions that facilitated class discussion regarding the assigned reading on stress and coping topics.
  • Presented to the class the intricacies of progressive muscle relaxation as a method of stress relief and coping.
  • Participated in class by adding my own perspective, thoughts, and opinions on research articles, pointing out potential flaws or positive aspects of the research and its methodology.

  • PSY 290- Research Practicum (Dr. Dorothy Buchli)
  • Acted as a researcher for Mercer’s Memory and Cognition Lab, measuring the Working Memory Capacity of participants, which is the ability to temporarily hold and manipulate information while performing other activities. This is done with the goal of investigating how people manage information and multitask in complex environments.
  • Walked participants through the research studies’ methodology on my own by assisting them with consent forms and their rights as a participant, explaining the general purpose of the study, and assisting them when needed in order for them to complete an operational task and a reading task that measures their Working Memory Capacity.
  • Communicated regularly with the study’s research supervisor (Dr. Dorothy Buchli) in order to be properly trained to conduct the study and establish a schedule for when I would be conducting the study with participants.

  • Wrote a literature review on the influence of childhood sexual abuse on future mental health outcomes.
  • Performed an independent samples t-test with the PSY 307 class in order to collect data investigating how classroom seating arrangements impact social interaction among participants.
  • Performed a 2x2 Analysis of Variance test (ANOVA) in order to investigate how background music and timer visibility influence people’s ability to perform cognitive tasks.

Community Service
