  • Assist the lead installer during the install.
  • Pump down, remove, and set up the new unit while the lead installer worked inside.
  • Braze, pressure test, and put the new unit in vacuum.
  • Do low voltage and high voltage to outdoor unit (occasionally have to install new disconnect box.)
  • Install new gas piping, condensate drain, and flue piping.
  • When going from a 80% to 90% having to be tasked with running all new exhaust and intake.
  • When unit is ready to fire up, being tasked with pre-charging and setting new unit up to proper subcool.
  • When slow, being paired with lead service tech.
  • When paired with him, the service tech would occasionally test me and let me diagnose the unit and make the repair.
  • Knowledge of what the sequence of operations of a furnace is.
