For the last 3 years I have had the privilege of watching over a tiny friend while her parents work full time jobs. During the school year I pick her up from school and care for her until her parents are off work, and during the summer months I care for her daily while her parents work.
I put a great deal of effort into maintaining not only my schedule and my own 2 children's schedule, but also this childs schedule, to ensure that she does not miss out on any opportunities.
I started volunteering for the Walnut Elementary PTO when my oldest daughter started Kindergarten, as a way for myself to create and enhance connections with the professionals that would be responsible for my child every day. This volunteer work has served as such a benefit to not only myself, but for my children and their fellow classmates.
I have continued volunteering every year since then as a PTO Vice President, President, Secretary, and currently Treasurer at Eastside Elementary.
In these roles I have coordinated countless school wide fundraising initiatives, worked to enhance community engagement by hosting family nights with local businesses and participate in community happenings. Organized monthly family nights to support fostering the bridge between school and home. I have led monthly meetings, which included creating agendas, typing and keeping record of meeting minutes and managing a budget. I have sat in on many school staff meetings as the parent liaison. I have also had the opportunity to be a member of a hiring committee as a PTO member.
