Correctional Officer with 19 years of well rounded dedicated experience in all aspects of corrections. An established history of using sound judgement and critical thinking during crisis with strong focus on rapport building with detainees and colleagues alike. Excellent command using safety, security, and emergency management protocols. An organized, dependable candidate successful at managing multiple priorities while maintaining a positive attitude. Always eager to take on additional responsibilities as a detail-oriented team player to meet all goals of the department
As a 19 year veteran of the BCDOC, after graduating from the 2005 NHAC Academy, I quickly worked my way into additional responsibilities. Firstly earning the title of Classification Officer and then Field Training Officer and finally Defensive Tactics Instructor. I took on these rolls to advance my career and prove myself as a well-rounded employee. Next I became a Shift Supervisor and attended Supervisor Academy. I have logged thousands of hours as a shift supervisor on all shifts in the absence of higher rank. In addition to becoming one of the first BCDOC Taser Instructors, I continued to reach higher and excel as an instructor at the NHAC Academy where I won the prestigious Robert C. Prescott award for excellence in teaching and support of new officers and the community. Finally, gained the following additional accomplishments: Fire and evac Instructor, PREA Investigator/Instructor, Firearms certified, Booking Officer, Transport officer, Union Negotiator, and Public Liaison for educational tours.
