Dedicated nurse whose practice is driven by empathy and science. With a background in oncology, currently looking for new opportunities in nursing.
Autonomy and exposure to a wide variety of skills have allowed me to grow into a knowledgeable and trustworthy nurse. On my current medical/surgical oncology floor, I became charge nurse within 6 months and a preceptor to 15 new-grads and 3 students. I am trained to take care of HIPEC (hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy) patients, administer chemotherapy, access ports, and deliver care to many different types of cancer patients. My days consist of maintaining patient safety, direct physician communication, rapid medical escalation/codes, lab interpretations, NG/Foley/IV insertions, and clarifying orders to deliver multiple treatment plans. As charge nurse, I have been responsible for communicating with nursing supervisors and providers, mediating issues with concerned family members and patients, and maintaining a healthy and safe work environment for my nurses all while caring for my own team of 6 patients.
