The past year I felt like I could've been a better section leader. The biggest struggle I had was the fact that I couldn't really help much of my section when they needed it. Because of this, since that marching season I have tried my hardest to improve my leading ability through learning how to play the instruments from my section, so I can teach more effectively. Overall, my goal with this position is to make the band as a whole sound better by making my section sound the best it can, while still being able to have fun.
Last summer, I worked an internship at a guitar workshop in Nashville that runs a few different businesses. The first was the Guitar Build Workshop that would walk people through the process of building a guitar. This greatly improved my ability to teach. The second business run out of the workshop was the Tennessee Electric Guitar company which is a quality, custom guitar brand. This company was very heavily focused on making the absolute best playing and looking guitars that could be made. The last company was Acreman Guitars. In this final company, there were 3 other employees that taught me most of what I know about building and fixing guitars. It gave me very valuable life experience including, working with people, the value of hard work and teaching.
