For a total of 6 weeks I participated in a short term student exchange to Italy during the summer of 2023. For 3 weeks I hosted an Italian exchange student named Giovanni. Following that, we flew to his hometown of Treviso, Italy. During this time I experienced cultural differences, whether that be new food, visiting historical monuments or visiting the Dolomite mountain range. In this time I expanded my horizons greatly and made connections in different continent.

  • Leadership, for example, with my prior experience with endurance running I was my team’s caption for Cross country, and both indoor and outdoor track This required me to help lead motivate and help my team to grow and succeed as a unit I handled warmups, team meetings, And even worked with struggling and unmotivated athletes
  • Independence, One way I helped to develop this skill was by participating in a student exchange program(through rotary club) in Italy For 3 weeks I hosted an Italian student, and for 3 weeks his family hosted me In addition to this, my work at the white water center required me to make my own decisions and judgement calls For example, upkeep/cleaning in the retail department as management took a largely hands off approach compared to Chick-Fil-A
  • Customer Service, My work at both Chick Fil A and the US National White Water center focused primarily around Customer service In the context of this work I was responsible for making guests feel welcomed, by greeting them as they entered and sharing a smile while I worked I also was responsible for assisting frustrated guests who may have been misguided or given the wrong thing
  • Technical knowledge, I basic experience with programming in python and java Beyond this I have built and done maintenance on computers
  • Sales Knowledge, Working at the US national white water center helped me learn to sell products and merchandise by providing insights about different items/passes and making suggestions based on the guests needs
