Von Maur Inc is an American departmental store chain that has 36 stores in 15 states all over USA with the corporate headquarters and E-commerce store in Davenport, IA. The aim of this project was to create dashboards to visualize and report all important retail KPIs in one central interface and turn the collected data from different departments into actionable insights.

• Imported data from various sources like SQL server, excel files into Power BI
• Worked on cleaning and reshaping the data through Power Query using merge queries, adding new column and other transformations like text, and number
• Wrote Dax expressions to create new measures and tables as per business requirements
• Designed complex reports using Drill-down, Visual filters, Table, slicers, cards, and other visuals based on end user requirements
• Check usability of filters/calculated columns/measures/relationships and transformations of edit Query section
• Created row level security as per the roles assigned to the users
• Unit testing and Code Reviews
• Published the report to Power BI Services
• Participated daily in stand-up meetings with the team to ensure proper implementation of the requirements in most effective way

Client: Saint Francis Health System

Hospitals provide a broad spectrum of diagnostic, curative, and administrative services in a complex and dynamic environment. Hence, there is an urgent need for continuous performance monitoring in different hospital departments for proper resource management and high-quality healthcare delivery. The aim of this project was to provide comprehensive and organized dashboards with key performance indicators that allow healthcare providers and managers to briefly evaluate the performance of their departments, identify the existing problems, and analyze their root causes to improve their performance.

• Extracted data from flat files and excel files into Power BI
• Designed data model in Power Pivot managing all types of relationships
• Created calculated/conditional/custom columns along with other transformations life merge queries, pivot, unpivot and transpose columns and rows in query editor
• Created appropriate measures using DAX functions such as SUM, SUMX, ALL, CALCULATE
• Created charts/card/slicers, etc
• And custom visualizations for clients
• Developed and deployed reports for the internal users in power BI Server
• Created Row-level security and published the report to power BI Services.

EFA Process:

The purpose of Eligibility Feed Automation (EFA) project was to automate the eligibility process as much as possible to eliminate human error while also retaining the flexibility to manually process a client feed if necessary. Active client files are automatically loaded, edited, and updated. If an error is encountered, the processing of the feed stops, and error reports are generated and the EFA waits for human intervention. With the implementation of this project, majority of the eligibility process was automated leading to better resource utilization. I was responsible for:

• Designing and coding load and edit processes of EFA.
• Writing test cases and perform unit and integrated testing.
• All development was performed on IBM AS/400 using RPG 400, and SQL.

Ameren Conversion:

Ameren, a current Magellan customer switched its TPA (third party administrator) from Hewitt to ACS. Previously, Ameren’s member Id was identified by the social security number only. The function of this project was to add prefix ‘AMN’ to the member Id’s for Ameren in the eligibility files. An audit file was also created to keep track of the Id’s changed in the files. I was responsible for:

• System analysis and converting business requirements into technical specifications for the conversion.
• Writing test plan, test case review and source code review.
• All development was performed on IBM AS/400 using RPG 400, and SQL.
