Police Crash Investigator (I&II)
1 Year 1 Month- Primarily, my duties as a crash investigator involve responding to, investigating, and documenting motor vehicle collisions that occur within the City of Bozeman, and elsewhere as requested.
- I also handle hit-and-run investigations, which involve developing suspects through investigative means and eyewitnesses. If a lead proves successful in identifying a suspect, then I will either work with the City Attorney’s Office and request charges be filed; or I will issue a citation to the suspect.

Being a drone pilot involves not only responding to a variety of calls to provide an aerial view of a situation, but also documenting our deployments, training at a minimum once a month to gain confidence in flying the department’s drones, and staying up to date on trends within the Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) world as it applies to public safety drone use.

Code Compliance Officer
1 Year 6 Months- I was transferred to the Code Enforcement Division at the end of January 2024, where I have since mainly focused on the enforcement of City of Bozeman Ordinances surrounding the urban campers who live in RVs and trailers on the city’s right of way.
- Handled violations of Bozeman Municipal Code, including noise, light, and business license violations, in addition to addressing urban camping complaints.
- Day to day, my position operates in and out of the office, developing case information through photographic surveillance, personal observations, case narratives, and other means to create strong cases for both civil and criminal violations.
- I reacted to complaints generated by the public or other departments in the City of Bozeman and proactively patrolled the city for code violations.

Parking Enforcement Officer
4 Months- As a Parking Enforcement Officer, issuing citations represents a small portion of the job, with a focus on educating the public, both residents and visitors to the City of Bozeman, on when, where, and how to park in various areas of the city without violating City of Bozeman ordinances or laws.
- Educated residents and visitors on parking regulations and compliance, emphasizing proper parking practices to reduce violations within the City of Bozeman.
- Investigated parking complaints and documented findings in comprehensive reports detailing actions taken and resolutions achieved.
- Coordinated vehicle towing and booting, documented all actions in logs and reports, and contacted registered owners.
- Updates parking database with daily parking information, including performing uploads and downloads in addition to maintaining cell phones, cell phone applications, and ticket printers.
- I transferred to the Code Enforcement Division of the city in January 2024.
- Contributed to the overall public perception of parking enforcement as a fair, necessary, and non-adversarial component of community safety.
Police Officer
7 Years 2 Months- Respond to and de-escalate situations involving citizens in crisis as a certified Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Officer.
- Identify, locate, and apprehend individuals distributing dangerous drugs in the form of counterfeit prescription pills.
- An example of this is using skills learned from advanced, specialized training to identify fake Xanax pills and other seemingly real brand-name prescription pills that are counterfeit and contain fentanyl & other dangerous substances.
- Developing probable cause to write search and arrest warrants based on reports taken for property and persons crimes.
- Deter, Detect, and Arrest individuals operating motor vehicles under the influence of drugs or alcohol and participate in multi-agency DUI Operations with local and regional partner agencies.
- Work closely with surrounding agencies including County, State, and Federal to deter crime and improve communication. For example, frequently setting up perimeters or priority calls, enabling units closer to the scene to be utilized in apprehension and perimeter applications.
- Respond to and investigate traffic crashes, issue citations and make arrests related to traffic related crimes. Create accurate and detailed crash diagrams using Easy Street Draw 4.
- Collaborated with County, State, and Federal agencies to deter crime and enhance communication, frequently establishing perimeters for efficient suspect apprehension and incident response.
- Supervised and trained Field Trainees (FTEs) in the department FTO program, covering critical duties such as officer safety, arrest procedures, and narcotics investigations, while ensuring understanding of laws and effective resolution of disturbances.
- Provide Honor Guard presentations and services for community events and Law Enforcement Funerals, Memorials, and Ceremonies.
- Created templates for major intersections with high traffic accident rates, reducing time for crash investigations and report completion for myself and fellow officers.
