Hello, I’m Gulinda, 16 years old currently going to school at Freedom High School working towards my diploma. Next school year I would be dual enrollment trying to get my first 2 years of college and high school diploma at the same time. Some volunteer things I’ve done past the years. To start things off I was actually personally selected by my 5th grade teachers as patrol. Patrol is job giving to the responsible students as we help with safety and traffic control. We would assist in ensuring that students cross the road safely when arriving or leaving school. Early on I was recognized as someone who can prove my leadership skills and help out those in need. As majority of my middle school years where effective with covid I didn’t get to help out my community but it didn’t stop me in high school. In high school, Ive been in charge of black student union as their secretary. This is my first year as secretary but i’ve associated with the club for 2 years. In black student union we do all sorts of giving back, events, fundraiser that benefits black students all over our school. Ive been taking french for the past 2 years so i have a pretty good understanding of french and can read it at certain degree. Growing up with immigrants that’s originally from Haiti also making me bilingual, understanding both english and creole.

Throughout all my elementary years/middle I’ve been pretty active as a child. Doing both dance and guitar. My first award was given to me when I was 7 years placing number 5 in a ballet competition. Ive done ballet throughout my life I ultimately stop when covid hit. Covid impacted my life so badly that my parents couldn’t pay for it. In middle school I did guitar for 2 years, gain two certifications before i started focusing my time back to dance something i truly enjoyed. As far as school goes I try to be a proficient student all my life. Elementary school I would constantly get honor awards celebrating my good grades. Also gained a attendance award remarking going to school everyday showing my ability to show out and my commitment. When I was 7th grade I was out of the 5 kids to score 4 (highest you can get is 5) in my math test, when covid was around. Alot of kids fall back and couldn’t adapt to their life changing while I kept it up and try to stay positive and focus at all times.
