-hired as an Ultimate Float team RN in 2016, where I was entrusted to care for patients throughout the hospital including the ICU

-transitioned to the VAT team around 2019 where I continued my training in Vascular Access placing Ultrasound guided IV's, Midlines and Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters and troubleshooting complex vascular access situations. Some of the specific things I was responsible for were;

  • Prevented the spread of infections by consistently adhering to strict infection control protocols and educating patients on proper hygiene practices.
  • using Evidence Based Practice to enhance my own techniques and to deliver the best patient care possible. We also used EBP to diminish Central Line Associated Blood Stream Infection numbers and Deep Vein Thrombosis rates throughout the hospital during the time I was on the team
  • Assisting in the training and mentorship of new nursing staff members, contributing to a positive work environment and high-quality patient care.
  • ensuring high quality nursing care by performing Audits on Peripheral IV's through out the hospital and educating Nurses on Best Practices
  • completed a Fellowship through the Education department and contributed to the research involved in a QI study showing the value of VAT in improving patient outcomes
