  • Safe, fun and, success oriented ski instruction for skiers from beginner, intermediate, and beginning advanced levels.
  • Create group splits for lessons based on existing skills, pace, terrain, and learning needs.
  • Use movement analysis and interview to develop lesson objectives. Use appropriate fundamental as a focus for lesson.
  • Teach family or group lesson splits as appropriate discussing approach and receiving buy in from students.
  • Use lift time to discuss background, needs, answer questions, and provide technical explanation.
  • Demonstrate appropriate progressions to teach "new" ski movements. Allow students to observe demonstration from behind side and approach.
  • Show tactical approaches as opportunities present for students to gain more confidence when encountering more difficult terrain.
  • Remind students of key safety elements such as merges, off piste skiers, looking uphill, loading lifts safely etc, during course of lessons.
  • Monitor student progress and providing feedback and encouragement to enhance skills.
  • Provide adequate time for guided practice focusing on lesson goals and building success.
  • Review lesson progress and suggest next steps for future instruction and practice focus. Invite students for additional instruction.
  • Suggest non ski recommendation for out of town visitors etc. designed to make clients vacation memorable.
  • Arrived as Cert 1 after teaching prior season at Sierra at Tahoe. Passed PSIA level 2 first season, PSIA level 2 teach second season, Western Division PSIA Senior Cert. 2.
  • Assigned primarily to adult groups but would take on privates during peak periods as well as many requests.
  • Would also teach advanced kids primarily 7-14 when, adjusting approach with a simple skill focus in am and taking that skill to more challenging on terrain in pm. Focus on safety, skill, mileage, friendship, and fun.
  • Took advantage of awesome resort trainers at Heavenly continuing to improve personal skiing and teaching skills well beyond receiving PSIA Alpine 2.
  • Collaborate with other instructors both experienced and new to discuss teaching approaches, ski skills, daily terrain conditions and appropriate teaching areas etc.
