Chicago Piping Plovers — Volunteer Wildlife Monitor (2024–Present)
• Monitor protected nesting areas for federally endangered Piping Plovers at Montrose Beach and Montrose Pier.
• Educate beach visitors about Piping Plover conservation, nesting behavior, and the importance of respecting protected wildlife habitats.
• Talk with beach visitors about protected nesting areas and encourage them to respect wildlife closures.
• Help protect nesting adults, chicks, and habitat by monitoring for disturbances and communicating concerns to volunteer coordinators and wildlife partners.
• Volunteer regularly during the nesting season to help protect Piping Plovers and educate beach visitors about wildlife conservation.
