• Provide speech-language pathology services in both acute care and inpatient rehabilitation settings.
• Assess and treat patients with dysphagia, aphasia, dysarthria, cognitive-communication disorders, and neurogenic communication impairments.
• Conduct and interpret Modified Barium Swallow Studies (MBSS) to guide evidence-based dysphagia management and diet recommendations.
• Evaluate and manage tracheostomy patients, including speaking valve assessment and treatment.
• Serve patients across multiple hospital units, including the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), cardiac units, renal units, medical-surgical floors, and inpatient rehabilitation.
• Collaborate closely with physicians, intensivists, nursing staff, respiratory therapists, physical therapists, and occupational therapists to develop comprehensive treatment plans.
• Participate as an active member of multidisciplinary ICU meetings to support coordinated patient care and discharge planning.
• Manage a diverse caseload including stroke, dementia, neurodegenerative disease, medically complex, and geriatric populations.
• Provided assessment and treatment services to more than 1,200 patients within an 11-month period.
• Coordinate scheduling for the Speech-Language Pathology team, including rehabilitation services and Modified Barium Swallow Study appointments.
• Educate patients, caregivers, and medical staff regarding swallowing safety, communication strategies, and cognitive rehabilitation techniques.
