Licensed Practical Nurse and current Registered Nursing student seeking a Nursing Apprentice position to apply over 900 hours of clinical experience in diverse settings and further develop hands-on patient care skills.
I am currently finishing my first semester in the Registered Nursing program at Truckee Meadows Community College. This semester I have taken Nursing Care 1, Fundamentals of Pharmacology, and Cultural Aspects of Nursing Care. Through lab, I have been checked off on a variety of skills such as assessments, medication administration, nasogastric tube and intravenous insertion. I have also completed multiple clinicals at Sierra Medical Center in their Medical-Surgical unit. In clinical I am performing head-to-toe assessments, medication administration, and collaboration with interdisciplinary healthcare team members.
As a Student Licensed Practical Nurse, I have completed over 900 clinical hours at Northern Inyo Hospital in the Medical-Surgical, Emergency, Operating Room, and Labor and Delivery units. I have also gained clinical experience at a long-term care facility, pediatric clinic, and women's clinic. During clinical, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, I was given the opportunity to improve patient outcomes by performing assessments, monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and documenting relevant information in a fast paced clinical setting. I also facilitated efficient communication between patients, families, and healthcare providers to promote continuity of care across settings. Outside of clinical, I have completed several courses such as Fundamentals of Nursing, Medical-Surgical Nursing, Advanced Pharmacology, Pediatric and Obstetric Nursing, Critical Thinking and Leadership for the Practical Nurse.
As a Personal Care Attendant, I was responsible for ensuring the safety and comfort of patients through diligent monitoring and timely assistance with daily activities. My responsibilities included maintaining personal hygiene through bathing, grooming, and dressing, preparing nutritious meals and snacks according to dietary needs, maintaining a clean and organized living environment for clients, monitoring and reporting changes in clients' health or behavior to the supervising nurse and accompanying clients to medical appointments and social outings.
As a nanny, I gained my first experience caring for others as I looked after three children ages six months, three and six years old. My responsibilities included transporting children to school and extracurricular activities, preparing meals and snacks for children based on dietary guidelines, planning appropriate activities and educational games based on developmental age, maintaining a clean and organized home environment conducive to optimal child development through regular tidying duties and developed strong communication with parents to provide updates on children's progress, needs, and achievements.
