Hannah Saltman

I volunteered as a photographer and occasional writer as an extension of my Media Classes from 2021-2023. As a photographer I captured photos for my high school sports games, orientations, and events. Along side with my photos I showcased the high points of the social scene at my high school in hopes to get students, staff and parents excited and involved with what was happening at the school.

Along side with photographing, I gained valuable experience with writing as photography often required me to create captions, descriptions, and short stories to accompany my images. I learned how to clearly communicate the story behind each photo, whether it was covering a sports event, student government activity, or school fundraiser. This helped me develop stronger skills in photography, writing, and gave me confidence in expressing ideas both visually and in writing.

As a babysitter of 4 children, I am responsible for providing a safe, healthy and fun environment.

Caring for four children as a babysitter helped me develop important skills in responsibility, patience, and time management. I learned how to balance different needs at once, from keeping children safe and entertained to managing schedules and routines. This role also strengthened my communication and problem-solving abilities, as I often had to think quickly, stay organized, and create a fun environment. Babysitting taught me how to handle responsibility with maturity, which is a skill I can carry into any professional setting.

Working as both a hostess and server has given me strong customer service communication skills, and problem solving skills with a short deadline. As a hostess, I learned how to manage the flow of the restaurant and keep it organized, all while staying calm under pressure. As a server, I gained experience multitasking, taking orders accurately, and making sure my customers had a positive dining experience. These roles as a hostess and a server taught me how to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, handle conflicts with professionalism, and work as part of a team to keep operations running smoothly.
