When I began my 29+ year career with Ceridian, we were actually called Control Data! My responsibility was to provide programming modifications for the companies first on-line HR product called Repertoire. The background computer language used was called Pick Basic. I had already had 2 1/2 years experience before I started working for Ceridian when working for The Canada Dry corporate office in Atlanta Ga so I fit right in. During my time there, I learned many different computer languages such as Dataramp, VB, and SQL to name a few. As my career progressed, I became the lone expert in the company as a Data Conversion Specialist. It was my job to take the Data from our on-line products , named Repertoire, Orchestrator Encore, and C1! As I was personally involved in the building of the software noted above, I was intimately familiar with the databases so I naturally became the leader of the effort to build a system to move the data from our legacy software to our new product which had its database in the cloud! In fact, Ceridian with the Dataramp product became the first Payroll/Human Resource product that had a cloud based database model. And I, from scratch I might add, came up a process, utilizing Office Excel! As a result, I became a major developer for the migration of data from our legacy systems. I truly enjoyed my job at Ceridian and again, worked with that company for nearly 30 years. This job started in Atlanta GA and ended as I noted above, in Pittsburgh PA. The reason I was released was that 14 members of our team, including myself, were released on March 26, 2018! I was approaching 62 and was considering retirement anyway. I have nothing but gratitude for my nearly 30 years with Ceridian whose home office is located in Minneapolis MN.
I am also a U.S. Navy veteran. I served from 10/31/1982 to 07/18/1991! I earned my commission to Ensign by beginning my Naval career in Aviation Officer Candidate School in Pensacola Florida like in the movie “An Officer and a Gentleman”, The training was intense but I rose to the challenge. In March of 1983. My Class was 0783! A few months later, I began my flight training utilizing the Korean War era T-2, which was a 2 engine jet aircraft! I also was transferred to the Navy Aircraft Carrier, CV-60, the USS Saratoga! Unfortunately, today, that boat has been scuttled somewhere in the Atlantic. I of course spent my later service in the Navy Reserve. When I was released from duty, my Rank was Lieutenant, which is the same as Captain in the Army! I am truly blessed to have been able to serve my country. I also would like to say that today, I am also a Pastor in the Bethlehem Alliance Church in Wheeling WV and as such, I am a born again believer in Jesus Christ!
