Dustin Oliver

Dustin Oliver is a Navajo/African American entrepreneur, humanitarian, dog rescue founder and chef who has lived in Detroit for 50 years, and with 32 years of restaurant experience. His extensive expertise in business development includes managing restaurants, non-profit organizations as well as farms and community food gardens. He is a 2016 Presidential Lifetime Achievement Awardwinner for Volunteer Service from President Barack Obama for his work as founder of Detroit Youth and Dog Rescue. DYDR rescues abandoned dogs and organizes annual holiday meals for hundreds of homeless people and veterans as well as mentoring the youth. To date DYDR has fed more than 35,000 people in the City of Detroit and rescued more than 350 dogs. Oliver owned and operated The Grow Station, a gardening store in Dearborn Heights, for several years before entering the non-profit industry and founding DYDR. Next becaming a partner in Greenblock Development in 2019 as Chief Operating Officer in charge of all daily operations as well as strategic international development. As an enrolled member of the Navajo nation, Oliver founded Nizhoni Global in 2022 with a mission of helping promote Navajo brands on and off the reservation. August 2022 Oliver launched Lions Brain Honey which is Nizhoni Global’s first wholly owned subsidiary sold in local coffee shops as well as retail in Detroit and Ann Arbor.
