The qualifications for working for a family business may differ from those of a non-family business. However, I have learned many things while working under my mother's managements. At this type of work, deep cleaning, my responsibilities included cleaning the large stuff first—the beds, restrooms, and the kitchen —then dusting as well as taking care of the little, more important details—like dusting, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning the ceiling fans and the tallest frames—because they are the dustiest. I learned the little things can sometimes be just as important as the bigger things to do. Although cleaning may appear effortless, deep cleaning involves several aspects that teach me how to work hard, in any job.
As an employee in the food department, my duties included seating and welcoming guests. Along with taking orders for takeout, I would also package their food and ensure that they were happy with everything. Since I was paid hourly, I would usually offer the servers assistance in cleaning up at the end of the night. My cleaning background came in handy in this regard.
