For the last 14 years that I have been learning English, I have managed to apprehend a modern RP accent, switch to a Standard American English accent, and then switch back to a modern RP accent, I have grinded through tons of authentic literature, media content, films, series, periodicals, magazines, paper and audio books, podcasts, music, folklore and etc.
During the last 6 years I have successfully created an info space in my life, where the lion's share of the content I consume on an everyday basis is predominantly in English, and the rest of it is in German, Polish, Russian and etc. Also, I have always been fascinated by all the different types of English all around the world like American accents, Australian, New Zealand, South African, Indian English and, of course, the accents of the UK and Ireland, and their peculiar vocabularies, idioms, proverbs, ways of expressing themselves and socialising in English in public, at home, with their family and friends and at work. By now, I daresay that I can comprehend almost everything that catches my attention in English, but education is a one's life-time journey that never stops, and everyday I learn something new, which only reassures my passion for the English language.
My English studies' journey I would call "rags to riches", since I can lucidly recollect the times when I could hardly articulate even the easiest thought in English, but over the course of time and with enough diligence and efforts I can state that I have succeeded in mastering English all on my own, so to say, from the comforts of my home. But what I have always lacked is, definitely, communication practice, which I hope to gain by travelling all over the world and making new friends, meeting and discovering new cultures and people whilst exercising my speech skills in English and other tongues.
Overall, English has always had a special place in my heart, it is, practically speaking, my real second language, the lore of which I will always cherish, support and develop even further.
