Work History

DSP Scientist

Northway Biotech
12.2022 - Current

· Optimize protein purification processes using advanced chromatography techniques, including affinity, SEC, HIC, IEX and RPC, achieving high protein stability and activity.

· Collaborated with CLD, upstream process, and analytical scientists to integrate biologically-derived proteins into scalable technologies.

· Led DSP team across multiple projects, overseeing the successful execution and ensuring high-yield protein production. Managed all aspects of the projects, including SOP writing, planning, client communication, and data presentation, from initiation to completion.

Industrial Post-doc

Boston Institute of Biotechnology
08.2022 - 12.2022

· Experienced with SOP and report writing.

· Demonstrated strong analytical skills of SDS-PAGE, RP-HPLC. And experienced with ELISA.

Ph.D.

Binghamton University
08.2015 - 08.2022

· Optimized purification and crystallization of Dm BicD-CTD/F684I to investigate the structural basis of the BicD activation mechanism.

· A vast experience in recombinant protein expression in E. coli and large-scale protein purification (e.g., affinity chromatography, and size exclusion chromatography) which involved method development and data analysis. Some experience with human tissue cell culture.

· Extensive experience in the biophysical characterization of proteins by circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy, size-exclusion chromatography coupled to multi-angle light scattering (SEC-MALS) and analytical size exclusion chromatography (SEC). In addition, some experience in characterization of proteins by NMR spectroscopy and small angle X-ray scattering.

· Proficiency in purifying 15N and 13C labelled as well as selenomethionine-derivatized proteins for NMR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography.

· Expert in protein crystallization, X-ray data collection at synchrotron sources and protein structure determination.

· Proficient in the use of the Phenix software suite for structure determination and in the protein structure analysis with the programs PyMOL and COOT.

· Effective collaboration with team members and collaborators leading to completion of the project goals and culmination of publications within stipulated time.

· Competent in method development and troubleshooting to ensure the safety and the quality of experiments such as HPLC – for instance after high pressure and lower running rate was identified to be contaminated Superdex200 column, help create a best-known method to clean up the column and help create a best method to prevent future occurrences.

· Trained and mentored six graduate and six undergraduate students in building their research capabilities.

Experienced in data analysis and scientific documentation in a concise manner in a laboratory notebook and present the work in group meetings and conferences clearly and precisely.
