  • Working in a hospital I performed venipuncture on very difficult patients including those who have been through chemo, IV drug users, newborns, and geriatric patients
  • This has helped me to become very proficient in blood draws
  • I do weekly blood draws at a nursing home giving me extensive geriatric experience
  • Phlebotomy also entails ordering the tests from requisitions received directly from doctors
  • Often this means communication through writing as well as verbal
  • I also inform the patient on what the correct processes needed for required procedures
  • I have also been trained on processing as a clinical lab assistant
  • I really wanted to further my knowledge and my career so I can better help my team and my patients
  • It has helped me understand the tests that I am ordering and to be able to communicate more extensively doctors and patients about the tests that are being performed
  • Training has been an essential part of my career
  • Teaching students and new hires, showing them the correct procedures that I have learned to be more efficient and better take care of patients
  • Training has also been important for my own personal growth and professional development
  • I have also been trained on IVs, I place them on patients in the ER, med surge and in the ICU.

  • I found it very fulfilling to do a lot of the intensive personal care
  • I took care of many patients basic needs such as personal hygiene, feeding and help with wound care
