As an Emergency Room Technician I work within my scope of practice as an EMT-B to provide patient care in a hospital setting. In addition to this my responsibilities include but are not limited to performing EKGs in a accurate and timely manner, obtaining and charting patient vital signs, bedding patients from the lobby and EMS, transporting patients to their inpatient rooms, performing CPR during codes, and drawing blood from patients.
As an Emergency Medical Technician I work as a first responder in medical emergencies. Upon arriving on the scene, I would work with emergency personnel to stabilize and transport patients to the hospitals that are most appropriate to treat them.I have knowledge and experience of navigating the streets under emergency and non emergency conditions.
As a firefighter/EMT I was responsible for for handling any type of emergency that occurred at the event we were contracted to. This included but wasn't limited to, vehicle and fuel fires, vehicle extrication, emergency medical services, and spectator emergencies. Once I was promoted to the rank of senior firefighter I had the responsibility of leading a crew of 2-6 firefighters.
As a team leader I was responsible for the welfare, fitness, morale and discipline of a five man Team. I was their primary instructor and advisor in the matters of tactics, personnel management and junior leader development.
As an Infantry team leader on deployment in Afghanistan I was responsible for the safety and security of over 4000 people on my base. In the nine months I was deployed, my team and I responded to over two-hundred emergency calls ranging from fires, medical emergencies and perimeter breeches where I coordinated fire suppression, cordons, medical evacuations and perimeter security without causing further injuries. My team and I were awarded the Army Commendation Medal for our actions while deployed.
