Work History

Revenue Officer

Internal Revenue Service
03.2019 - Current
  • I conduct face-to-face interviews with taxpayers (and/or representative) at the taxpayer’s place of business, residence or, on rare occasions, at my office. My interviews may be schedule or unscheduled depending on the case. This is done as part of my investigative process of collecting delinquent taxes and securing delinquent tax returns.
  • I obtain and analyze financial information to determine the taxpayer’s ability to pay the tax bill. I also collect monies from individuals and businesses for taxes due. I consider alternative means of resolving tax debit issues when the taxpayer cannot pay the debt in full such as: Setting up payment agreements which allow the taxpayer to pay the bill over time. When appropriate, granting relief from penalties imposed when tax bill is overdue. Suspending collection of accounts due to financial hardship.
  • I garnish bank accounts and wages as well as seize real and personal property to satisfy delinquent taxes. Real estate seizures that do not involve taking immediate physical possession or evicting occupants from the property.
  • I educate taxpayers on their tax filing and paying obligations and provide guidance and service on a wide range of financial problems to assist the taxpayer towards a positive course of action to resolve their tax issues.
  • I inform taxpayers of their rights under the law and provide them with quality customer service while ensuring their own personal safety and well-being. I manage an inventory of cases and complete required case actions. I also document case histories in support of case decision.
  • I educate and train Revenue Officers on their roles and responsibilities. Conduct on-the-job for both new and existing employees to enhance their skills and knowledge.

  • I provide both general and technical advice relative to tax law, balances due, answer procedural questions, conduct interviews and analyze financial situations to determine taxpayers’ ability to pay delinquent taxes; advise taxpayers on IRM guidelines relative to granting installment agreement and short time extensions, and move misapplied payments and abate penalty as may be warranted, identify income and excise tax issues, employee plan issues, and potential tax fraud issues.
  • Prepare letters of counseling, proposals, and decision notices; advise on procedures and appropriate options for proper resolution of problems, SERP, ERCS, RGS and online IRMs; conduct third party, IDRS, Internal Revenue Manual (IRM), Internal Revenue Code (IRC), Services polices and internet research.

Review their airline tickets, car rental reservations, and other itineraries issued by contract travel services ensuring they correspond with travel authorized.
  • Oversee and monitor an inventory of 50-60 High Income Non-filers and maintain contact with these non-filers to secure delinquent income tax returns, and communicate and explain to taxpayers their rights.
  • Oversee and monitor an inventory of 20-25 High Income Correspondence Audit cases.
  • Document and record history and progress on the activity record and work papers and respond to a wide variety of taxpayer inquiries regarding general and technical issues, which may require extensive research.
