Isabel Bunn

As a Civil Rights Advocate at the Houston Independent School District (HISD), I serve as a vocal advocate for educational equity and social justice within the district. My responsibilities include:

• Raising awareness about disparities in access to resources and opportunities among students from diverse backgrounds.
• Organizing and participating in community outreach initiatives to address systemic issues related to discrimination, bias, and inequity in education.
• Collaborating with students, parents, educators, and community leaders to develop and implement strategies for promoting diversity, inclusion, and fairness within HISD.
• Providing support and resources to students and families who have experienced discrimination or unfair treatment based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or socioeconomic status.
• Advocating for policy changes and reforms that prioritize the needs and rights of all students, particularly those who have been historically marginalized or underserved.

• Worked in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with a focus on providing medical care for calves.
• Administered medication to calves and closely monitored their health, including fecal scours, on a rigorous schedule of three times a day, every day.
• Demonstrated exceptional attention to detail and responsibility in ensuring the well-being of the animals under care.
• Collaborated with veterinary staff to maintain accurate records and communicate any changes in the calves' conditions.

• Provided academic support and guidance to students as a tutor at Sylvan Learning during freshman year.
• Assisted students in understanding challenging concepts and improving their academic performance.
• Demonstrated patience, empathy, and effective communication skills to help students overcome learning obstacles.
• Collaborated with colleagues and parents to develop personalized learning plans tailored to each student's needs and goals.
