Working at the Saturday markets began my initial venture into working independently. I was responsible for the entire process—from transporting goods to the market, setting up, selling the product, and the subsequent teardown and return home. This experience has been key in gaining self-reliance and enhancing my problem-solving abilities. Dealing with unfavorable weather conditions on numerous occasions required quick decision-making, and this job has significantly improved my ability to do so.
Meeting sales goals was accomplished through a commitment to providing outstanding customer service. On many occasions I received commission for surpassing the quota. I engaged with customers, addressing their questions, and assisting them in selecting the right items.
As a Visitor Service Associate (VSA), I acquired many skills that were new to me. Lan Su is a recreation of a scholar's garden in Suzhou, China, and technically, it's a museum. I've volunteered at a museum before, but being an actual employee brings a different perspective. Through this role, I gained a deep understanding and connection to Chinese culture and traditions. I've also mastered a new computer interface called Versai. Besides the usual tasks like cleaning, organizing, and customer service, the shift from restaurants to a more professional setting has been great for learning and refining new skills.
