Healthcare has noted an increased incidence of patients leaving the Emergency Department (ED) against medical advice (AMA). My Master Thesis group and I have conducted a study to determine if a correlation exists between prior unfavorable hospital encounters and a patient's decision to leave AMA. The goal of this study is to identify possible modifiable factors that could effectively reduce this incidence rate of AMA.
