Work History

Shift Supervisor

Starbucks
Hopemills, North Carolina
12.2020 - Current
  • I started working at a corporate Starbucks as a barista in 2020. This job includes making hundreds of specialized drink combinations according to the customer's order, as well as providing them with a clean, friendly environment.
  • Starbucks emphasizes the idea of our stores being the customer's 'third place,' a place where they come in between work and home. I have been able to bring this idea to life in my store by connecting with our regular customers every day, showing them that they are valued.
  • I have participated in programs like the Starbucks Foodshare initiative by preparing donations of our leftover pastries and sandwiches to be brought to shelters in our area. I have also helped to host many community events in our store, like Coffee with a Cop, where community members are given the opportunity to connect with the law enforcement in their own town.
  • Eventually, I was promoted to the shift supervisor position, which allows me to lead our team of baristas to have successful peak hours and some of the lowest drive-through times in the district. I was recently able to complete my food safety manager certification.
  • Starbucks has shown me the importance of all the small things that we do at work each day. In the grand scheme of things, these small acts positively impact so many lives.

Starbucks Barista

Harris Teeter
Hope Mills, NC
12.2018 - 08.2020
  • The first job I had as a barista was at a Starbucks inside of a Harris Teeter. This job gave me all the knowledge and experience I needed to move up to a corporate store.
  • While working at this store, I was given the honor of being named Employee of the Month. I was able to achieve this by building relationships with my coworkers and customers on a daily basis.
  • Because I was in high school at the time, I was a closer. I made sure to leave the opening staff a pristinely cleaned and well-stocked store.
  • Because we didn't have a manager from the Starbucks inside of the grocery store, I quickly developed problem-solving skills, which have helped me confidently handle issues in my store on my own.

Counselor in Training

Kiwanis Recreation Center
Fayetteville , North Carolina
06.2015 - 08.2016
  • There were several summers during high school that I volunteered as a camp counselor through the counselor in training program of the Fayetteville-Cumberland Youth Development Program.
  • I was able to directly impact my community by supporting programs for families in my own community. I spent long days with the children in these programs, which allowed me to be a positive role model for them.

Volunteer

Deep Impact Missions
Red Springs, USA
06.2015 - 08.2016
  • During two of my summers in high school, I participated in mission trips with my youth group. We chose to volunteer through Deep Impact Missions. We stayed at a facility of the Baptist Men's Ministry in Red Springs, NC.
  • We spent the week volunteering at different sites all over the communities of Red Springs and Pembroke, North Carolina. One of my favorite experiences was painting fences at the Odum home in Pembroke. We also spent time leading activities for the children of the Odum home.
  • These experiences were very humbling and allowed me to see the amount of impact one small group can have on a community in just one week.
