I know science, I know technology and I know how to communicate about them, either independently or as part of a team, in compelling ways through various channels, among them articles, books, podcasts, public engagement and museum exhibits.
Roles include telling institutional, scientific and research stories that reflect Zuckerman Institute's contributions to science and society, media-relations with goals of sharing institute's more consequential accomplishments with wider audiences, serving as team ambassador with institute's 50 principal investigators.
Worked at DARPA in two two tours of duty during this time period, with two-year diversion for magazine project. During those tours at DARPA, wrote content for agency's website and conducted media relations; created and produced Voices from DARPA podcast, which chronicled challenges and opportunities of developing new and powerful technologies; oversaw production of widely distributed one-off magazine issue for agency's 60th anniversary; prepared and posted innovation timeline for agency's website; developed several pop-up museum exhibits: and advised technology program managers and senior management.
Created and produced online magazine, The Moonshot Catalog, within context of a philanthropy-funded project at American Association for the Advancement of Science. The magazine, timed to launch at 50th anniversary of first moon landing, featured stories about big problems and challenges that if solved or realized would do a lot of good for a lot of people.
Took multifaceted task of writing an institutional history of the Naval Center for Space Technology, with roots extending to 1920s, from conception to published book widely distributed in government circles.
