Deputy Posse Liaison currently assigned to Enforcement Support Division I am responsible on handling many programs which include the following: Maintaining constant contact and communication with the Posse Program and the entire membership. This includes taking telephone calls, disseminating briefing boards and administrative broadcasts to the entire posse program, also answering questions about distributed information. Work with the Training Division to coordinate training for Posse recruits, and Posse members of all training levels. This is an on-call position which requires me to respond to call outs, such as requests for crime scene security, investigations, drive heavy equipment, assist with patrol shifts, large multi-division operations/events, and are part of the Crisis Negotiator program. Other past duties when I was assigned as a Community Liaison/Policing Deputy in the Town of Queen Creek duties: BI-WEEKLY COUNCIL MEETINGS, WEEKLY QC EVENT MEETINGS, ISSUES CONCERNS THAT TOWN OR COUNCIL ADVICES, TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT (SCHOOL ZONE, CONSTRUCTION ZONE) Develop, organize, activate and quarterly reinforce neighborhood block watch programs, (community incidents, HOA, council requests) Develop, organize, reinforce and maintain business watch, , programs such as Operation Notification. (Include and supervise Posse when and where applicable). (i.e.: Educate regarding Holiday business security patrols) Rotate weekly visitation/contact with each private and public school, apartments, within the jurisdiction. (To include summer school sessions at Library) Review and quarterly activate school safety programs such as “security breach, lockdown” and other related safety concerns (set up active shooter training, tabletop exercise) Periodic contact with business/schools/town to address traffic concerns. Collaborate with the Queen Creek Adult Education and Family Resource Center in outreach programs and events, in the best interest of service and cooperation between the Sheriff Office and the “unreachable” community (Migrant education). Co-sponsor the annual Queen Creek Kids Christmas Car Show and Toy Drive (and other town events ***) in collaboration with the Queen Creek Unified School District, Queen Creek Businesses and the Queen Creek Fire and Medical Department. The annual event is a 501-C3 fundraiser for special needs youth and less fortunate children. Assist in organizing and activate youth programs such as the Sheriff Explorer program that reaches those between the ages of 14 and 18 years of age. Assist as a Co-Advisor to the program. Develop outreach programs and/or monthly activities that involve participating with youths below the age of 14. (Bicycle rodeos, skateboard events, etc.) Develop, organize, and activate driver safety education programs/OPIOIDS EPIDEMINIC/ACTIC SHOOTER presentations. Once a date is set for the first meeting, the Deputy will notify each resident of that neighborhood via personal contact, homeowners associations, school newsletters and other sources of media where applicable. The Deputy will provide pamphlet and other information describing block watch, it’s leadership and the responsibilities of each resident. The Deputy will invite the MCSO Posse Commander to attend the meetings and who will discuss the role of the Posse in the community. The Deputy will follow-up monthly to monitor the operation and success of the program, to include Posse activity, once the Block Watch is established. Develop, organize, reinforce, and maintain business watch programs such as Operation Notification. (Include and supervise Posse when and where applicable). (i.e.: Holiday business security patrols): The Liaison Deputy will contact each business within the jurisdiction to determine if the business is enrolled in the on-line Business Watch program. The Deputy will enroll the business if not and will monitor each existing and new account on a quarterly basis and ensure that all information is current and up to date. The Deputy will inform the Queen Creek Crime Prevention Posse Commander of any changes, additions, or deletions in the contact list. The Deputy will assume responsibility for providing a list of businesses in the jurisdiction that observe peak holiday shopping events. The Deputy will assist the QCCP Posse Commander in developing a roster and schedule for the Posse to patrol the businesses during the holiday events. Rotate weekly visitation/contact with each private and public school within the jurisdiction. (To include summer school sessions at the local library) The Liaison Deputy will patrol the vicinity of school crossings and speak with crossing guards when practical to determine enforcement needs. The Deputy will contact the SRO to determine what is the trend at the school to assist family resource non-English speaking parents. (Quarterly Monthly meetings) Review and quarterly activate school safety programs such as “security breach, lockdown” and other related safety concerns: The Liaison Deputy will develop, schedule, and activate “Lock Down Drill” and other safety programs to offer schools within the jurisdiction. The Deputy should re-enforce the program at the return of each school break and may include tabletop exercises. Collaborate with the Queen Creek Adult Education and Family Resource Center in outreach programs and events, in the best interest of service and cooperation between the Sheriff Office and the “unreachable” community: The Liaison Deputy will maintain contact the Directors of the Queen Creek Unified School District Queen Creek Family Resource Center in continuance of the partnership between MCSO and the Center. The “Center” is the focal point of adult citizens in and around surrounding communities who aspire for G.E.D certification, language skills and public safety education. Deputies are frequently requested as presenters whose contact is a factor in enhancing those citizens’ compliance with Arizona laws and related issues, school trends etc. Co-sponsor the annual Queen Creek Kids Christmas Car Show and Toy Drive (and other events) in collaboration with the Queen Creek Unified School District, Queen Creek Businesses and the Queen Creek Fire and Medical Department. The annual event is a 501-C3 fundraiser for special needs youth and less fortunate children: The MCSO Queen Creek Deputies established the QCK Christmas Car Show in 2005 as an annual fundraiser to provide toys and food baskets to children in Queen Creek and surrounding communities. It was determined that those children would otherwise not have a good Christmas and Queen Creek Family Resource Center collaborated as a valuable partner. The fund drive proved successful and since partnered with others such as Queen Creek Fire and Medical and Queen Creek businesses. The Senior Community Policing Deputy will be the chairperson for the annual Queen Creek Kids Christmas Car Show and Toy Drive. Other C.P. Deputies will assist the Chairperson as directed to ensure each assigned task is completed in a timely manner. Those tasks include but are not limited to: Attending meetings, co-chairing, fundraising, inviting, and organizing show judges, equipment pick-up and return and participating on the day of the event. Assist in organizing and activate youth programs such as the Sheriff Explorer program that reaches those between the ages of 14 and 18 years of age. Assist as a Co-Advisor to the program: Liaison Deputies often come in contact with youth who are in need of attentions, who may have no goals, experience other difficulty, or who want to become a team member in the community. The Sheriff’s Office Explorer Post 2502 is a youth-based entity of the Office. The Post provides direction, training, leadership, and a pathway to becoming a successful employee in any occupation that they may choose. The Explorer program is open to youth between the target ages of 14 and 18. The program is a springboard for those seeking a career in Law Enforcement and provides a substantial and factual resume that may aid in the explorer’s pursuit of a career other than Public Safety. The C.P. Deputy will provide potential Explorer candidates with details of the program, the ways and means to apply and follow-up with the individual or individuals with whom contact was made. The Deputy should assist the District’s assigned Post Advisor during special events, or upon request as circumstances allow. Develop outreach programs and/or monthly activities that involve participating with youths below the age of 14. (Bicycle rodeos, skateboard events, etc.): The Liaison Deputy will review outside agencies youth programs via the media, internet, or other resource for the opportunity of borrowing, adding to, developing, and implementing similar programs into the MCSO collection. The Deputy will provide a program outline to the appropriate supervisor for further disposition. Once accepted, the Deputy will list the program as available for presentation. Develop, organize, and activate driver safety education programs and presentations for first time and /or current drivers. The Liaison Deputy should contact resources such as the Department of Motor Vehicles, Department of Public Safety Library, and other agencies for access to driver safety education videos, documentation, and current information to educate school students and current and prospective teen drivers. Contact wrecking yards who may volunteer wreckage delivery and pick-up for “show and tell training.” Develop, organize, and present public safety educational programs when requested by Town or City staff. Most businesses and local government require mandatory training for supervisors and employees related to substance abuse and other matters that satisfy risk-management concerns. Operators of heavy equipment, truck drivers and or other “safety at risk” personnel are required to take such training. The Sheriff’s Office can provide or assist in the training because of the “knowledge of Arizona Statutes” related to substance abuse and transportation that are necessary segments. The Liaison Deputy should seek both local and national alcohol and drug organizations for material such as current video and documentation to be used as aids in presenting a training session such as: “How to recognize a person who may be addicted to alcohol, prescribed medication or other substance.” The Deputy will provide a program outline to the appropriate supervisor for further disposition. Once accepted, the Deputy will list the program as available for presentation.
