My passion for medicine has been deeply rooted in me since early childhood. Being raised by a nurse, I learned compassion, dedication, and hard work that go into patient care. It has always been my goal in life to help people, and to make that my profession. First experience with patients I had at my first job at a medical lab, where I encountered people and asked what brought them here. Moreover, communicating critical results to patients' doctors was extremely important, as it was my first time taking responsibility for someone’s life. The ability to speak three languages gave me the ability to help immigrants who had trouble speaking English. My experience as a caregiver has given me a deeper understanding of what it means to work directly with patients. This experience taught me that treating people medically can help them, but your attitude toward them can also affect how they feel. During internship classes, I will be gaining more experience shadowing an MD and a PA at the local hospital. I hope to learn how to effectively communicate with patients, develop diagnostic skills, and understand the intricacies of patient care management. Additionally, I aim to gain insight into the teamwork and collaboration required in a healthcare setting. This experience will also help me improve my ability to handle medical emergencies and make informed decisions under pressure.
Recently I started attending a club where I communicate with students who are on the same track as I am. Interacting with like-minded students provides a supportive environment where we can share resources and insights. It also fosters collaboration and networking, helping us to learn from each other's experiences and develop new skills.
