Jackson Martin

High School student who manages to maintain A- grades throughout the year when taking APs and AICE classes while balancing work as a busser, part time in a warehouse, and volunteering on the side.

• Through my Entrepreneurship/Vista United Teacher I was able to get an internship at a private local gym.
• I plan on majoring in Kinesiology in order to become a personal or athletic trainer
• Every Saturday I go in and shadow the owner who personally trains his clients and learn techniques
• I get to ask question about my major, the different ways he trains his clients, and what to expect in and out of college.
• Overall, it has been an amazing opportunity to learn about my major and get started early before college.

Academics:

• I joined National Honor Society at the end of my sophomore year and have been in it since. Each semester I have completed the necessary community service hour log and tutoring.
• For two years in a row I have finished in the Top 5% in my class.
• I have gained nine total AICE and two AP credits since my junior year. I am taking five more AP classes this year as a senior.

Vista United:

• A school program where I get the opportunity to mentor students with disabilities such as Asperger's syndrome.
• By being in classes with them, I get the hands-on experience where I help them with school assignments, organization, and social skills.
• I joined this program my junior year and am continuing in it my senior year.

American Legion Boys State at FSU:

• During the 2023 Summer I attended Boys State at FSU for a week and learned about government procedure and policies.
• I was one of few students selected by my school to attend Boys State.
• We performed mock government sessions at the Florida Capital.
• I was a twice elected official at Boys State, including being an Assembly/House of Representative official.

Flag Football Coaching:

• For nearly two years I have been coaching flag football with my friends, helping to grow my local community and building valuable lessons such as respect, good attitudes, and good sportsmanship.
• I started off coaching 11u, moving up to 13u recently with some friends.

Volunteering at a Concession Stand:

• For roughly a year and a half I volunteered at my local baseball parks concession stand.
• I provided great community service for all ages.
• I grew up playing baseball there and I wanted to give back to West Boynton Baseball.

Sports:

• During my sophomore year I played for my high school football team and learned lessons about dedication, teamwork, and accountability.
• I have recently began to pick up golf during my free time, playing with friends and my dad.
