First sergeants are responsible for the needs of Airmen and their families 24/7
They ensure that support agencies, such as the chaplain and Airman and Family Readiness, are available to unit members
They may also help with personal issues, such as financial or housing problems, or medical appointments

First sergeants lead the unit in developing a professional culture based on Air Force Core Values
