• Served as a lead wildland firefighter on Blue Ridge IHC. Performed prescribed fire operations including preparation, ignition, monitoring, and holding. Constructed direct and indirect handline and operated a chainsaw in various vegetative types and arduous terrain.

• Proficient in communicating and utilizing aircraft for fire suppression and support such as backhaul.
• Made initial evaluation of fire situations, determined rate of spread, potential hazards to property and others, methods of suppression, point of initial attack, and time needed to safely complete operations.
• Provided daily leadership and training for the crewmembers such as 6 Minutes for Safety and JHAs. Served as a working leader over 8 or more crewmembers, at least three of which are GS-05 seniors. Also lead additional detailers and "fillers".
• Used a variety of specialized tools, equipment (Aviation and Dozers) and techniques to prep and actively suppress fires and firing equipment. Performed as a fully qualified C Faller. Evaluated and re-certified experienced sawyers as well as new sawyers. Performed and trained others on chainsaw maintenance, and minor to major repairs..
• Provided training in wildland fire and safety techniques, practices, and methods of fire suppression.
• Confidently and competently performed duties as a Squad Leader when the actual Squad Leader was not present.
• Maintained, inspected, and operated a crew carrier under a CDL Class B.

• Crew-6 is a 10 person winter fuels crew that focuses on Rx implementation while also being available for IA during the dormant season. Served as a working leader to 3 seasonal employees, one of which is a GS-05.
• Assigned as the crews sawboss, firing boss, and mix-master under the leadership of one captain and one assistant captain. I've maintained, organized and inventoried all chainsaw parts, accessories, as well as other equipment such as leaf blowers, brush cutters, and weed eaters. Created chainsaw policies and implimented to crew SOPs
• Competently and confidently fulfilled duties as the assistant captain during the absence of the assistant captain.

Friends of the Verde River is a non-profit organization with a mission in restoring the habitat and water quality of the Verde River.

• Supervized and provided specifications to multiple crews operating chainsaws and woodchippers.
• Handled, transpoted, and applied various herbicides to eradicate invasive species.

Resource Assistant (Intern)

• Gathered data involving recreation use of the Wild and Scenic Verde River and implementing compliance of a permit system for the Wild and Scenic River, Fossil Creek.
• Maintained trails using various hand tools and educating the public about trail educate and rules to recreating in wilderness.
• Prevented/mitigated fire and medical incidents by reporting and educating the public about on the forest ecology, fuels, weather, and restrictions.
• Participated and lead volunteers in projects such as restoring wildlife habitats, recording recreation use, assisting Range in allotment compliance/utilization surveys, recording data for botanists, and conducted watershed and vegetative restoration data for hydrology.

My duties as a crewmember was to work as a team to help eradicate invasive plants along the Verde River.

• operated various tools such as chainsaw, loppers, tree pullers, and silky saw to cut and treat invasive species such as Tamarisk, Arrundo, Tree of heaven, and Russian Olive along the riparian area of the Verde River.
• Gained the skills and techniques of operating and maintaining tools, herbicide sprayers, and a chipper.
• Collected data such as; acreage, species treated, method of treatment, and initial or secondary treatment.

• Worked on a fuels reduction crew in Urban Interface of a remote community of the Bradshaw Mountains.
• Assisted EMS as Wilderness First Responder, providing treatment and packaging patients for transport via ground and/or air transport.
• Laid hose lines and operated nozzles, pumps, hydrants and fire extinguishers.
• Cleaned, serviced and maintained fire apparatus in condition of readiness and performed general maintenance of fire department property. Checked all equipment, including chainsaws, hand tools, PPE, hoses, and SCBAs before and after fire calls to determine proper functionality.
