I believe with my experience as not only a facilities maintenance worker but as well as my experience of new construction and service work throughout the public that I contain skills necessary to positively fill this position as well as maintain a positive relationship that is absolutely necessary when associating with the public on a daily basis, just as I've done over the past eight years. The licensure that I currently posses and I am working on shows that I am eager to take on anything that is not only necessary for this position, but also anything additional that will benefit the county if I am selected to fill this position.

Over the last 6+ years while working at UVA, I have been responsible for maintaining our buildings of many ages, from brand new construction to buildings dating back to the early 1800s.
Some of my current responsibilities include troubleshooting and repairing the following; medical air systems, sanitary waste pump systems/ rainwater pump systems, domestic hot and cold water systems, laboratory hot and cold water systems, natural and propane gas piping systems, steam systems used for domestic water heat exchangers as well as numerous HVAC demands, air handlers/controls, respond to elevator entrapments. I am currently leading a three man team on a daily basis.
I have worked as a maintenance technician as well as being of part of our in house new construction team where we installed copper, cast iron, black iron, and Orion piping systems throughout UVA. I spent one year focused primarily on electrical controls troubleshooting and repair in the elevator field.
I have been responsible for coordinating many outside contractors for jobs at UVa such as presenting the work that is needed, taking bids, and following through to ensure the job is done to UVa's set of standards.
Before starting at UVA shortly after graduation, I worked part time for a couple years doing electrical, plumbing, heating, air, and refrigeration at Smith and Smith Inc. located in Lovingston Va. During the time at Smith and Smith I was very fortunate to learn a broad group of skills that I continue to use and build upon here at UVA.
I received my journeyman plumbing license through the apprenticeship at UVA and this past year after holding my journeyman's license for 12 months was able to sit with DPOR to test and receive my master plumbing license. I have completed the requirements and currently waiting on paper work to be able to sit with DPOR again to test for both my backflow prevention license as well as my journeyman's HVAC license.

At Smith and Smith Inc. I was very lucky to have worked with a very knowledgeable team doing electrical, plumbing, and HVACR service work as well as new installations where I took advantage of every second to build as much knowledge and skill base as possible to be a positive impact to the team. Even after starting at UVa in August of 2017, I continued to help Smith and Smith Inc. part time for a while afterwards.
