My military career has spanned over 23 years: 4 years Active Duty, and 19 years in the Reserves. Recently I have just retired as the 446AW Fire Chief. My role as Fire Chief was supervising the operations of 31 military firefighters assigned under me and to direct all activities of the fire protection flight. Responsibilities included: evaluating, analyzing, and upgrading crew readiness/posture for state side and contingency firefighting operations. This included facilitating training for firefighter skill level upgrades and vehicle licensing on assigned apparatus. I administered personal, career, and leadership guidance to subordinates through coaching & mentoring. Program management for all department programs (prevention, operations, training, logistics, admin) fell under my direct supervision and associated budgets. I recently resigned from the department as the Captain for C-Shift in Seattle, WA with 1 Lieutenant and 7 Firefighters under my direct supervision. I also filled the of role lead training coordinator for the NW Region. My core competencies include Incident Command of emergency scene activities to include: structural, industrial, aircraft rescue, hazardous material response, marine operations, and fire prevention activities. I have a strong background in code enforcement, fire inspections, multi-company operations, resource coordination, and the incident command structure. The majority of my time was divided equally between operations, training and prevention activities.
