My military career has spanned over 23 years: 4 years Active Duty, and 19 years in the Reserves. Recently I have just retired as the 446AW Fire Chief. My role as Fire Chief was supervising the operations of 31 military firefighters assigned under me and to direct all activities of the fire protection flight. Responsibilities included: evaluating, analyzing, and upgrading crew readiness/posture for state side and contingency firefighting operations. This included facilitating training for firefighter skill level upgrades and vehicle licensing on assigned apparatus. I administered personal, career, and leadership guidance to subordinates through coaching & mentoring. Program management for all department programs (prevention, operations, training, logistics, admin) fell under my direct supervision and associated budgets. Also, I had responsibilities for writing, reviewing & updating operational procedures for flight programs and fire ground strategies & tactics.
