Caregiver Experience:

• Took care of children between the ages of 5 months to 10 years old.
• Helped maintain cleanliness in the houses, fed children and encouraged food play with the younger children, played games, read books with and to them, worked on homework, and did various fun activities.

Volunteering at Assisted Living Facility:

• Assisted Speech-Language Pathologist in a rehab center/nursing home, focusing on individuals with Dysphagia and Dementia.
• Gained valuable experience in understanding the dietary needs of dysphasic patients, including National Dysphagia Diets (NDD1,2,3) and their modifications.
• Prepared thickened liquids (nectar, honey, pudding thick) for patients with swallowing difficulties.
• Collaborated with SLP in exercises and activities aimed at strengthening swallowing muscles and improving communication skills.
• Worked with non-verbal patients, including one with aphasia, using positive body language and eye contact to engage and bring joy to their lives.
• Demonstrated a passion for helping seniors and individuals with communication disorders, with a strong desire to pursue a career as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
