Translational Science and Medicine (TSM) is an integrated group of scientists composed of a clinical Translational Medicine (TM) team which conducts early clinical development and experimental medicine studies, and a Translational Science (TS) team which uses human based data and tissues to support the end to end portfolio. Together, the TSM group will provide the key learnings/insights on the next wave of novel therapies for these patients. Organizationally, TSM serves as a pivotal bridge between Discovery Research and the later phase Clinical Development group. TSM provides the necessary scientific and clinical expertise to advance an industry-leading pipeline of novel mechanism small molecules and biologic agents to address unmet need in immune-mediated diseases. 
  
TS has a broad remit stretching from support of discovery with human data to support target selection, through development of novel decision- making biomarkers for early phase clinical trials, target-centric indication sequencing and prioritization, and biomarker support of regulatory filings. TS has expertise in biomarker development, disease biology research and in the application of immunology and data science technologies to support drug discovery and development. 
  
The Digital Health Science & Technology Lead (DHSTL) will provide technology leadership to enable digital health (DH) measures. The right candidate will establish and maintain an internal and external collaborative network to provide for new DH solutions. Drive programs delivering DH solutions to the immunology therapeutic area (Imm TA) clinical studies and collaborations. The DHSTL will support Immunology Scientific Innovation leads globally in the areas of Digital Health and external collaborations. The DHSTL combines Information and Technology expertise with clinical and pharmaceutical R&D knowledge to help transform the way information and technology are used in the way Pharma R&D is designed, planned, executed, and reported. This team player will be looked upon as bringing functional, scientific and technical expertise, with a passion to improve the science of Pharma R&D and in Digital Health. The DHSTL will connect with internal business partners and external experts to help shape the demand and resolve how to best support the business through most appropriate use of skills, tools, capabilities, and technology. The position holder will partner effectively with the broader J&J Data Science, Digital Health and Business Technology organization, contributing to solution design, effective integration, and quality service delivery of heath tech solutions. The DHSTL will be responsible for project activities focused on establishing scope and project objectives, requirements, project portfolio management, as well as helping to direct and coordinate project resources.
  
Responsibilities:

* Is accountable for bridging the strategy gap in Digital Health between science leaders and technology solution providers in understanding scientific requirements, identifying technology options, establishing an overarching digital health strategy, and providing business relationship management.
* Designs, develops and implements the approved DH strategy in the frame of immunology studies.
* Ensures that all ensuing data generation, capture, analysis, interpretations and reports are delivered in time, traceable and documented.
* Ensures that an internal network of resources with e.g. QS, DS, BM, and IT is dedicated to the implantation of the DH strategy.
* Maintains an up to date resource of external resources e.g. devices, and platforms to enable implementation of the DH strategy.
* Development of Digital Health strategy aligned to Therapeutic Area and Data Sciences strategy. Through ongoing consultation with the all internal pharma functions, this role identifies and analyses scientific needs, works with department members to ensure scope and requirements are aligned and creates opportunities for innovation in process changes and technology enabled solutions for Digital Health. 
* Works independently in formulating creative ideas and solutions on products, processes, and systems, and focuses on creating effective communications. 
* Conducts research into the scientific requirements, technology options both internally and externally to assemble business cases with clear scientific benefit and technical roadmap options. 
* Builds and maintains strong partnership with strategic technology providers; Contributes to budget development and plays a key role in ensuring portfolio governance for the area.
* Providing oversight and contributing to external research collaborations in the UK and wider EMEA area.
* Partners with Immunology Scientific Innovation leads to identify digital health technology innovation and roadmaps based on Immunology business objectives around digital health.
* Keep abreast of external environment and evaluate tools and solutions
* Assists in RFI/RFP processes and pilots as appropriate to evaluate relevant tools and capabilities
* Develop junior employees on digital health and biomedical informatics technologies.
* Elaborates and oversees experimental designs, data analysis and interpretation.
* Elaborates a frame for data reporting to regulatory agencies to promote DH endpoints as de novo clinical end points.
  
Qualifications

* PhD or MD/PhD in a relevant field of Biology is required.
* MSc in a relevant field of bioinformatics or data sciences is preferred.
* A minimum of 2 years of postdoctoral experience and a minimum of 6 years of relevant professional experience required. 
* Experience in translational sciences related to immunology is preferred.
* A proven track record of experience working in DH and data sciences is required.
* A proven track record of experience in large multi-stakeholder collaborative scientific consortia is preferred.
* Fluency in both science and IT disciplines is required.
