Jaden Nguyen

A recent college graduate with leadership and teamwork skills that have been developed through active involvement in clubs and athletics throughout high school and college. Experienced in balancing multiple commitments, meeting deadlines, and collaborating with peers. Strong communicator with the ability to problem-solve. A lot of hands-on experience in general, organic, physical and analytical chemistry labs that further strengthened critical thinking, problem solving and technical skills.

Leadership and Activities:

• Member of Model United Nations: Actively participated as a delegate which helped develop skills such as public speaking, research and diplomacy.
• Jewish Student Union: Served as an officer in the club, organized events and encouraged community engagement.
• Asian Student Union (ASU), Asian and Pacific American Student Union (APASU), Korean Student Association (KSA): Engaged in contributing to cultural programming, advocacy, and promoting inclusivity on campus.
• Athletics: Four-year varsity member of the high school swim team as well as the school record holder in the 100 Breaststroke. Alongside the high school athletic program, also participated in the club swim team for 4+ years. Demonstrating my dedication, discipline, drive and hard work through the athletic achievements.

Laboratory Skills & Research Experience:

• General Chemistry Labs: Build a strong foundation in common laboratory techniques, experimental design, chemical safety, and collaborative teamwork.
• Organic Chemistry Labs: Conducted multi-week research projects, developed expertise in modern spectroscopic methods such as infrared spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy and ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy. Along with developing skills in modern spectroscopy, I authored journal-style lab reports and literature reviews, strengthening my scientific writing and presentation skills.
• Physical Chemistry Labs: Gained proficiency with electronic measurement equipment, data modeling, Fourier transforms, and regression analysis.
• Analytical Chemistry Labs: Applied advanced analytical techniques including spectroscopy, chromatography, electrochemistry, and mass spectroscopy. Trained in statistical data interpretation, accuracy and precision analysis, and quality control.
• Individual Research Project - Atmospheric Chemistry Simulation: Designed and executed a self-directed research project focused on simulating the chemical reaction between water and ozone in the atmosphere by building a computational model to predict reaction pathways and kinetics, incorporating atmospheric conditions such as pressure and temperature. Applied principles of physical chemistry and environmental science to analyze dynamics and validate results against established atmosphereic chemistry data.
