• Transported patients to different departments within the facility.
• Assisted nurses with transferring patients.
• Assisted the patient at first sight and explained the transport plan and destination.
• Recorded the time of departure and arrival of patients for appropriate transfer purposes.

Traveled to Guatemala with the Pre Optometry Club to provide vision care to underserved patients and helped people to see more clearly for the first time in years. I helped with organizing community health fairs and vision screenings for underserved communities. Upon that i got the opportunity to shadow different eye doctors and helped them with different tasks such as, operating phoropter, doing preliminary tests, taking pupillary distances, and giving out glasses which solidified my decision to go into optometry.

• Counted stock to see what needs to be restocked.

• Shadowed seven optometrists, learning about the field of optometry and getting a general idea of day to day activities and struggles.
• Learned about the hard work and dedication of multiple optometrists while seeing their passion for their jobs on a daily basis.
• Took this opportunity to ask questions regarding how they got into the field, what struggles they have faced, and what keeps them motivated to pursue their profession.
• Learned more about the processes involved in optometry through operating diagnostic machines and learning about the tools used in the line of work. My understanding of the profession has grown exponentially through this experience while seeing the positive impact it can have firsthand.
