Use launch monitor during lessons to help players further understand areas of their game that need to be focused on improving
Assist in the operation of the junior golf program, which consists of 3 separate, 3 day sessions spanning from May to July. Program includes roughly 40 junior golfers
Began with leading stretches on the driving range with junior golfers, followed by a scripted warmup session where juniors start with wedge shots and progress through their bag to the driver.
Following warmups, junior golfers were split up into small groups and participated in various drills on the putting green.
Putting drill 1: Place 5 tees in a circle around the hole, 5 feet from the hole. Junior golfers are instructed to hit 3 putts from each tee and rotate. This gets junior golfers familiar with seeing how putts can break differently as you progress around the hole
Putting drill 2: Two fifteen foot long strings are placed running parallel to each other, roughly 30 feet apart. Junior golfers are to line up along one string, and putt their ball to the other string with the objective of leaving their putt as close to the string as possible. This drill focuses on speed control on long lag putts for juniors.
Following putting drills, junior golfers are broken off in groups of 3-5 golfers for their playing lesson portion of the session. Myself along with our head professional, teaching professional, and director of golf go out on the course with juniors. Lessons given range from strategy on how to play a hole, to proper golf etiquette such as when to pull the pin from the hole and not walking in other players' lines.
Each junior golfer is given a plan of improvement to be followed up on throughout the 3 sessions so progress can be tracked.
Assist in coordinating "Bogey Nights" program
"Bogey Nights" is offered to women of Grosse Ile Country Club who are new to golf and are looking to learn the game
Program consists of a one hour clinic, once a week, for 6 weeks, offering a spring session and a fall session.
Players begin with a driving range warmup followed by practice activities that are scripted week to week based on what the focus is for that week.
Areas of focus include full swing lessons, short game lessons, putting lessons, and playing/etiquette lessons.
Lessons are followed by players going on course for 5 holes and are asked to record their scores and turn them in. The player with the low score of the week is given a prize during dinner following their round.
